[Travel to Korea] A royal night out at Gyeongbok Palace in Seoul, Korea

Gyeongbok Palace is once again opening its doors at night so that Koreans and tourists can enjoy the Joseon Dynasty royal palace without suffering from the scorching sun.

It will be the first time this summer that the palace will be open to the public at night.

From July 30 to Aug. 11, the palace will admit up to 1,500 visitors per night between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and will stay open until 10 p.m.

The limited number of tickets, which cost 3,000 won ($2.95), can be bought online starting July 23 at 2 p.m. or at the door. There is a limit of two tickets per purchase. Tickets for the palace can be purchased at HERE.

To encourage visitors to learn more about Korea’s royal culture, the National Palace Museum of Korea will also stay open until 10 p.m., featuring displays of artifacts from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

The Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea is also recruiting volunteers to work from July 1 to 20, patrolling the palace grounds during the night. To volunteer at the palace, interested parties can apply at ww.royalpalace.go.kr
